Sporting a stylish crown, "Anthony" was in Lottery Headquarters this week after claiming a second-tier prize playing the "50X The Cash" scratcher that he bought at a Waldorf liquor store.

The winner says he's not a Lottery regular, but he and a friend came up with a system that paid off in a big way.

"Neither of us plays too often he said," but when they do, the prosperous pair tends to pick up the same tickets, believing that it could lead to a big win.

It did.

"Anthony" said that he spotted the "50X The Cash" game and bought two scratch-off tickets at Waldorf Liquor on Crain Highway. He won a little initially, his friend added, so he picked up two more of the same game.

He won nothing on the first ticket, but then his strategy showed some of it's merits.

“I thought it was $50,” the St. Mary's County resident mused. “I kept scratching. The more I scratched, the more zeros I got.”

The professional driver said that with his newfound cash, he plans to catch up on some bills and get his buddy a new set of living room furniture.
